All people like to see stories where music is important and animation is no different. Anime is not different. There are many great and very different kinds of storytelling stories and so many different kinds of music, from a group of friends trying to bring a punk band to the child who is interested in jazz to a young man who wants to be a pop singer.

All these stories are told with great dramas of character, with their own tones and moods, but all are definitely worth checking. So here are the top 10 music anime which make your ear feel an emotion that it never felt.

10. K-on!

Sakura Wars the Animation


A fresh high school year always means a lot to come, and one of those things is joining a club. Being in a dilemma about which club to join, Yui Hirasawa stumbles upon the Light Music Club, which she misinterprets to be about playing simple instruments, such as castanets. Unable to play the instrument, she decides to come and apologize and quit.

Rating: 8/10

In the meantime, the Light Music Club faces disbandment due to a lack of members. This causes club members to offer anything, from food to slacking during club time, in order to convince Yui to join. Despite their efforts, Yui insists on leaving because of her lack of musical experience. As a last resort, they play a part for Yui that sparks her fiery passion and finally convinces her to join the club. From then on, it's just plain messing around with bits and pieces of practice. The members of the Light Music Club are ready to take their time together with a lovely one!

9. Carole & Tuesday

The human race began its migration into the terraformed Mars 50 years ago, where they live comfortably because of advances in AI. Carole lives in Alba City's metropolis, playing keyboard at night and working part-time by day. Tuesday has escaped her home in Hershell City from the grasp of her rich family and hopes instead to music in an acoustic guitar.

Rating: 8/10

The two decide to play music together following a fateful encounter. Together they believe that they can convey their feelings with their songs against those AI singers who dominate the musical world. Is it enough work and luck for the duo to create the greatest miracle Mars ever saw?

8. Hibike! Euphonium

Kumiko Oumae is a euphonist in a high school brass band in Japan. She had sworn off music after an incident at the middle school regional concert band competition. She finds motivation to make music again with the help of her bandmates. The band hopes to qualify for the national band competition, as they currently are, but just competing in the local festival will be a challenge.

From the studio that animated Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, Kyoto Animation's Hibike! Euphonium is a fresh and musical take on the slice-of-life staple that is the high school student's struggle to deal with their past, find romance, and realize their dreams and aspirations.

7. Detroit Metal City

The Detroit Metal City (DMC) is a popular death metal band that dominates the indie world and is known for its stupendous dark and crude style. His extravagant leading singer, Johannes Krauser II is particularly notorious as an evil being who grew out of the fiery pits of the fire to make the world knee and lord all the dead – or at least that's what he is known to be.

Rating: 8/10

Krauser II is only the alter ego of an average college graduate named Souichi Negishi, unknown to his many adorers. While he is soft and peaceful and wants to listen to Swedish pop throughout his day, he needs to play the DMC's garish concerts so that he meets his ends. Negishi is chronicling the hilarious misadventures of Detroit Metal City while he tries to juggle his hectic band life, and apparently romantic romance, and confront his incredibly obsessive, dedicated fans.

6. Sakamichi no Apollon

Kaoru Nishimi has just arrived for his first year in high school in Kyusha, an introduction to classic pianist and top student. Since his childhood, he has moved steadily from place to place and gives up all hope for a new, lonely and meaningless year. That's until he meets Sentarou Kawabuchi, the notorious criminal.

Rating: 9/10

Sentarou has a huge love for jazz music that inspires Kaoru to learn more about the genre, making his very first friend slowly break out of his shell. In the basement of the family record store of student Ritsuko Mukae Kaoru begins playing the piano in after-school jazz sessions. Kaoru's summer could just crescendo into one that he will remember always when he discovers his immense joy of using his musical talents to bring fun to himself and to others.

5. Nodame Cantabile

The first-class musician Shinichi Chiaki dreams about performing amongst Europe's elites. He is an infamous perfectionist who comes from a distinguished family and is highly critical of himself, as well as of others. Shinichi only has his fear of flying to stop leaving for Europe. He is based in Japan as a consequence.

Rating: 9/10

Shortly after the revolt against the tyrannical nation dictator begins, the fight makes its way to its new home. It is part of the villagers' lives. In order to save lives and the village he came to love, Hakuoro must do all he can to uncover the secrets that surround his history.

Mafuyu Satou grabs his Gibson guitar tightly to begin his secondary school life another day. When he sleeps at a peaceful location on the steps of the gymnasium, he has a chance to meet fellow student Ritsuka Uenoyama, who admonishes him for having rust and break his guitar strings. Uenoyama notices that he knows the instrument, and Satou pleads that he fix it and teach it to play. Uenoyama ends up agreeing and inviting him to sit with his two bandmates in a jam session: bass player Haruki Nakayama and drummer Akihiko Kaji.

Rating: 9/10

Satou's voice is strikingly beautiful, filling Uenoyama with the determination to make Satou the lead singer of the band. Though reticent at first, Satou takes the offer after an emotional meeting with an old friend. With the support of his new friends, Satou must not only learn how to play guitar but also come to terms with the mysterious circumstances that led him to be its owner.

3. Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad

Yukio 'Koyuki' 14-year-old Tanaka is a disgusting young man without life goals. But all these changes as Koyuki saves a weird dog named Beck from harassment by a group of local children. Ryuusuke "Ray" Minami, a 16-year old dog owner, is an emerging guitarist and an ex-member of a popular rock band.

Rating: 9/10

After Koyuki meets Ray in dinner again, the older boy brings him to the meeting place of his former band and brilliants Koyuki with his incredible guitar skills. With his slow interest in the glamour in Western rock culture and a sense of helping Ray to realize his dream of leading the final rock band, Koyuki decides to start playing guitar. Together with Ray's younger sister Maho and a few other members, both boys are starting their careers in the rock world by forming a BECK band. Beck follows the struggles and achievements of the group as they spread their reputation through Japan.

2. Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso

The path of the prodigious pianist Kousei Arima is accompanied by music, the Human metronome. However, Kousei falls into a downward spiral after Saki Arima's mother passes, which makes him incapable of hearing the sound of his own piano.

Rating: 9/10

Two years later, Kousei still avoids the piano and leaves behind his admirers and rivals. Tsubaki Sawabe and Ryouta Watari live a colorless life together with his friends. All changes, however, as he meets Kaori Miyazono, a beautiful violinist, who revives his world and sets him back to face the music.

1. Nana



Nana Komatsu is a hollow, naive twenty-year-old who falls in love easily and becomes dependent and committed to her environment. Although she cares for ambitious dreams about moving from her province and finding her true vow, she ends up in Tokyo, chasing her current boyfriend Shouji Endo, with a humble reason.

Rating: 9/10

On the other hand, Nana Osaki is a proud enigmatic, similarly rural punk rock singer who encourages people to become a professional singer. She is on the same train to Tokyo as Nana Komatsu by firmly putting up her career with a rather popular band (and her enthusiastic romance with one of her former members).
