Infinite Stratos (IS) can only be piloted by women, exoskeleton weapons manufactured by Japan. Its strength and combat capabilities are so immense that an international treaty banning its use as a military asset has been signed.
When the only man who can manage an IS is discovered by Ichika Orimura, 15, he is strongly enrolled in the Academy Infinite Stratos: an all-female boarding school whose students graduate to become pilots.
